"Do you love me or
love to hate me?" sings Lora the sexy siren and front women of Darkwater. Well
with a sound resident enough to fool you into forgetting this band are unsigned
and yet to break the mainstream no matter what your usual tastes are you cannot
hate this slice of hard rock.
Despite its slow beginning this track soon has its slippery tentacles of ear pleasure wrapped around you. Darkwater are hard enough for metal fans and catchy enough for those who prefer the likes of Kings of Leon, there's even a slice of sound for those who aren't ashamed to admit a My Chemical Romance following. With all of these fans catered for they appear to have turned a corner compared to their very first single Easy Weakness which was more what Courtney Love would have wished she had come up with if only she could sing. This song is less in your face and more in your nodding of your head as you wail along to the chorus, you can't help but do it! With the chorus catchier than Chlamydia and tale of naked ambition this song gives us a sample of what we can come to expect from this Glaswegian band. The bands sound development from their first single has been helped by former Anthrax guitarist Scot Ian, who mixed 1920. He obviously knows a good thing when he hears it as do Jagermeister; the fuel of rock and roll, who now sponsor the band. They've already played with Primal Scream at the Skye Festival and are set to support Wolfmother in the UK this summer. 1920 symbolises the future for this bad- undoubted success. The single was released on the 29th of July with a video which currently resides in the Video Vault is well worth a look.
