When Gentlemen's Gold burst through my speakers for the first time
, I think the first word that popped into my head was "blimey"; that is, the good sort of blimey.  For really there is not any other possible reaction to a track that so stridently leaps into motion before you even get a chance to turn up the volume.

Neon Plastix are indeed what they themselves call a disco treat, and a scrumptious one at that.

During this period of electromania that the current music scene is so wonderfully re-living, it would be quite easy to get sucked up into the increasingly less riotous new-wave-bubble.  However with an electrifying dose of disco, the sound of Neon Plastix is without doubt quite unlike anything else we've heard for quite some time.  Hailing from Doncaster, this five-piece have managed to brew up something quite delicious, proving quite well that electro music is not at all losing its flavour.

With a turbulent tumble of beats, Gentlemen's Gold accelerates from nought to commotion within the first few seconds.  Nicely combining guitar with synthetic beats, Neon Plastix have really mastered the act of avoiding repetition with vibrant vocals and melodies dotted about to add a little bit of spice.  Although there are striking similarities to contemporary acts such as the Klaxons, the innovation of Neon Plastix is what makes them sparkle.  Drawing on self-professed influences including the likes of Talking Heads, Gentlemen's Gold shows off hints of tradition that give it that little extra something.

The perfect soundtrack to a frivolous evening about town, Gentlemen's Gold is magnetic in its lovely balance between racy and radiant.  It is just one of those songs that make you want to sing, laugh, leap and be merry - quite often all at once.  This is an act that somehow already seems familiar, and yet they still manage to refresh and revive.  Neon Plastix are indeed what they themselves call a disco treat, and a scrumptious one at that.
