Review: Trash Fashion - Why Can't We Be Friends?
Tuesday, 03 June 2008

With it's erratic choppy intro, 70's-esque vocals, cock rock style bridge and disco bassline, overlaid with something like a synthesizer put in a blender...you wouldn't think it would actually work. But it does. And then some. In fact, with each listen, I hear more snippets of various genres and it reminds me of many things I can't quite put my finger on, (other than it sounding like the music of choice of the glammest of drag queens on an MDMA binge) but that's just a flawless result of a successful combination of eclectic styles, sleaze and attitude.

A flawless result of a successful combination of eclectic styles, sleaze and attitude

Featuring Jet Storm on vocals and keys, Mason Storm, Lead guitar, vocals and keys, K-Bomb on bass guitar and vocals, and last but never ever least, Bam Bam on drums, the fantastic four have just completed a tour (the last date left is the Fresh Sounds Festival in Warsaw, Poland May 24th) and gone transatlantic twice in two years, by playing the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas-where they were picked by Kerrang! Magazine as one of the top five bands not to miss. They went on to appear all over Europe from Paris to Berlin (couldn't resist -sorry!) as well as dates in Zurich, Brussels, Moscow, Barcelona amongst others. (Not forgetting Tamworth!)

They began the transition from under to overground in October 2007 with their first digital release the ‘Mom and Daddy' EP then fitted in a 30 date UK tour as well as stopping off in places such as Barcelona, Prague, Amsterdam and Oslo. They also played the Insomniacs Ball, four appearances at the ‘In The City Music Conference, Record of the Day's 5th birthday and-naturally-a special guest DJ set at Jodie Harsh's Circus club night. With genius such as theirs, I see no reason why we can't be friends.
