Review: The Gin Riots - 2 Songs

Well it's a new year, which means more cold mornings, a rubbish summer, another disappointing birthday and more car tax to pay. But a new year also means a new sound. Every year brings a few bands that define the year with original and new sounds. Well the Gin Riots have that new sound, if they were a fruit they'd now be ripening up just in time for the summer.

if the gin riots were a fruit they’d now be ripening up just in time for the summer.

The first song to find my ears was a track called The Daily Dust; this song has a funky bass line which grips you instantly and gives the song a laid back feeling. The lyrics are very clear and well presented; it's hard to compare the lyrics and the track to anything, so I won't. This is an original track very cleverly written and very ear pleasing. It has the new sound written into it, but it's not too far ahead of the times, it's just right and I hope these guys will be playing some festivals this summer when they're ready and ripened. If they are I'm making a huge banner with "play The Daily Dust" written on it! The song lyrics remind me of a good drinking partner of mine, who will be ‘the death of me'.

All the tracks written by these guys are special, they have an amazing quality that not many bands achieve and I guarantee when you hear The Gin Riots you will agree that they are good from the word go. They have coolness about them, a Gin Riotness, something that has been missing from the music scene for a while, can be found in their style.

Another song that strikes me is El Torro this tune is a bit more up beat than The Daily Dust and has a real catchy chorus with faster lyrics that jump out the track at you, but it keeps it's mellow/coolness and evolves into a great track that'll make you want to listen to it again and again and again! The whole sound of this track it great, it all seems to blend together perfectly and I hope The Gin Riots can keep producing tracks like El Torro and The Daily Dust .
