Holy smokes, even before it dawns on you that the song has begun, Playtone are off and away, plunging all their lucky listeners into the depths of Turn the World Around. In fact if the dynamic riffs don't immediately draw you in, then there's probably something not quite right with you.

Playtone not only sound good musically but their lyrics are also very thoughtful and … well, they’re just quite nice, really.

Hailing from gorgeous Glasgow, this four-piece already have what it takes to take the music scene by storm. With a definite likeness to those foxy Foo Fighters and, quite distinctively, the remarkable Jimmy Eat World, Playtone are definitely set to make a name for themselves. Turn the World Around is a fine example of the Scots at their best. Displaying both capacity and charisma, the track is a perfect piece of melody that just can't help but burst out of your stereo. Leaps and bounds a plenty, it manages to race from brisk to beautiful, with an epic guitar interlude that will make you go weak at the knees before getting excited again about their bound back to raging riffs near the end of the track.

Something that shines most brightly about Playtone is, not only do they sound good musically - oh no, it does not end there - but their lyrics are also very thoughtful and ... well, they're just quite nice, really. It is quite rare nowadays to come across a band that excels in both areas, and so it is hats off to Playtone - masters of both the word and the strum.

With gigs on the go, and a supply of terrific tracks already under their belt, it can only be onwards and upwards for Playtone as an up-and-coming band that is both exciting and eloquent. I would watch out for them, if I were you.
