Review: Operahouse - Diane
Tuesday, 08 July 2008

The word Operahouse reminds me straight away of the many nights spent in a night club in Boscombe many memories, but this isn't about blurry nights gurning, this time Operahouse is all about a great band who are snowballing to massive success, gaining momentum all the way. The 1st thing that really strikes me about this band is the song writing ability, especially the lyrics to their tracks. Every song is full of intelligence and a certain charisma not seen from any band in a long time. Musically these guys are very tight and their professionalism shines through each track.

Operahouse are gaining more momentum than a fat guy in a wheel chair!

The track Diane by Operahouse is definitely the best example of the bands raw talent. Imagine a song written by Bowie, sung by Doherty and performed by John Squire, Reni and Mani. What you get is an amazing tune, mind blowing lyrics that are brilliantly delivered and a really tight sound. Diane is a track that is just great to listen to. It's not over hard but then again it's not too soft, Operahouse have some how kept a balance between that works really well. There's not many tracks written that will make you think "wow this is a great track" first time you hear it, but Operahouse have achieved this with Diane. The track starts off with a nice mellow guitar rift and a funky bass line before the lyrics kick in. The drums aren't too heavy they just help the track along with a great rhythm that will make you want to jump around a bit. Everything gets a bit harder around the chorus, and the guitars really give the chorus a good kick and they sound amazing along with the drums which also speed up and get that bit harder. The lyrics are what really make this song for me though.

Every lyric oozes creativity and intelligence and I think the band must have thought of every word put into the song bit by bit before writing anything down. "Sugar free sugar cubes" what a lyric, love it! All in all Operahouse have created an amazing song, its nice to listen to, you can sing along with ease and it gives out a feel good attitude of a band going places, and believe me this band are going places!

Operahouse are quickly climbing their way to the top and through the roof! With tracks like Diane it is easy to see how and why this band are so successful. With a sound of their own and the song writing capability shown in every track its no wonder Operahouse are gaining more momentum than a fat guy in a wheel chair! If you can, check these guys out, but to be honest I don't think it will be too long before Operahouse are appearing on our national radio and T.V stations.
