Dynamic and daring from its very start (with no pun intended), Start &Begin 69 simply thrusts itself into a race of both rhythmic and musical enchantment. Quite unlike anything else currently coasting today's music radar, Ceri James has managed to create something that is both unique yet comforting - simply in the sense that once you hear it, you just know you'll love it.
With distinct echoes from the
past including the vibrant beats of ska, this track has got rhythm - that's for
sure. But it doesn't end there. For instance, the vocals? They're really quite something, with a
distinctive voice that is definitely one-of-a-kind. Not to mention the backing vocals that are so
smooth, they put baby bottoms to shame, quite frankly. Another point in the track worth mentioning
is the really quite charming guitar-based interlude that features at the
end. The boisterous yet strangely gentle
bass-infused melody is more than enough to show off some fine guitar skills. All in all, this track proves that James has indeed succeeded in creating something that is, well ... quite lovely, really. An original and fresh listen made available to today's keen ears, Start & Begin 69 proves that it is nothing less than a track with promising staying power. Now all that is left to discuss is just how to get our hands on it - the single was released on March 10th by the way, ladies and gentlemen - so, let the race start ... oh, and begin.
