Interview: Peter from The Apple Scruffs
Saturday, 13 October 2007
Image Glasgow indie rockers The Apple Scruffs have bravely let lead singer Peter Kennaway take on the TSM Radio interview without fear of wrecking their integrity and standing in the Glasgow music scene as a result.

It is well documented that before Terence Trent D'Arby recorded his second album 'Neither Fish Nor Flesh' he agreed to do the TSM Radio interview, officially the reason for the album's flop was due to it being overly indulgent,  unfocused and pretentious. However there are some that think by agreeing to do the TSM Radio interview it may have jinxed the album's success.

seeing a man with frumpy bum cheeks and a questionable bulge on display through lycra shorts isn't really my idea of sexy

What is the first Nursery Rhyme that you remember?
Humpty Dumpty. surely that was everybodys first? Although Im not sure whoever wrote it intended it for kids. its about, I'm assuming, an egg, who is called Humpty Dumpty who falls from a wall. which forces the King to send out ALL of his horses and ALL of his men to help him out. what if the King got invaded by France at this point, there would be no front line. I think this is a very misleading story for kids. I can only assume the writer was doing acid at the time. Maybe it was Louis Carrol.
Have you ever met a rock star?
I've met a couple of rockstars, I met Pete Doherty before he played an
acoustic gig in Glasgow one time. We where sittting having a joint and he
pulled up beside us in the back of the van he was touring in. We went over
and spoke to him for about ten minutes we gave him a puff and he signed our t shirts, that wasn't the deal by the way, thats just how the meeting panned out. He was a gentleman, that gig is still one of my favourites of all time. We also met the boys from The View, we supported them last New Years Eve. We had a big party with them afterwards and got wasted. Top lads.
Fancy Dress? - What shall I go as?
For Fancy Dress I'd go fully naked with a condom on my nose. when people
asked what i was supposed to be I'd say........'fuck knows'?
Do you think wearing Lycra is sexy?
Seeing a man with frumpy bum cheeks and a questionable bulge on display through lycra shorts, probably running isn't really my idea of sexy and to be honest probably not your average girls idea of sexy either. But when a pretty girl with a nice ass slips on a pair lets face it, Im not gonna complain. Although there is always the danger of camel toe.

What's the 3 best albums ever made?
The 3 best albums ever made is a very hard question but in no particular
order here are mine. Definately Maybe by Oasis, Up The Bracket by The Libertines and Give 'Em Enough Rope by The Clash.
I have a talent show coming up me and my band want to sing a tribute song, which one  should we do?
When I was at secondary school Jonny, Greg an I entered a talent show we played Supersonic by Oasis, I played drums Jonny played lead guitar and Greg sang, we came 4th, we've learned from our mistakes!
If you could have any album from your parent's record collection
which one would it be?

I'd take The White Album, I grew up listening to it, my dad has a really
good taste in music so I wouldn't struggle for choice, if I could take two
from him I'd also blag The Dark Side of The Moon, I love The Great Gig in The Sky.
New people next door, has garbage out side thats been there 3 weeks, what do I do?
To be honest if new neighbours had left garbage next door for three weeks I probably wouldn't notice I don't even know if my garbage from three weeks ago is away yet and wouldn't that be the garbage mens problem anyway I think they'd need to phone Glasgow City Council. I'd stay out of it.

What type of drunk are you?
Depends what I'm drinking but I like Buckfast, it makes me feel warm and
friendly. It has 15 more times more caffeine in it than an average bottle of
wine, I love that fact. with a hangover I can be a cunt!
Can you feel the power?
Fuckin' right I can!!!
