Interview: Hands from BIG TRUCK

Image Hands from London band BIG TRUCK braves the lunatic ramblings of the members of Yahoo Answers and gives us an insight as to what goes on in his head and his unhealthy obsession with The Hulk.

Interview: Rael from Happy Eggs

Image Happy Eggs lead singer and guitarist Rael Jones was a good egg (sorry) and
agreed to answer questions from the garbled masses of the internet.

Interview: Greg - iamchemist

Image Greg Elder the electro indie wizard better known as iamchemist is the latest artist to brave the internet world and their thirst for pointless knowledge. Read on to see how he faired.

Interview: The Greenmatics

Image Its safety in numbers this time round as Aussie based electro popsters. Gordo, Green and Ant who are The Greenmatics take on the lunatic questioning of the unfathered bastard that is the internet community.

Interview: Roy Moller

Image We are delighted to say that singer/songwriter extraordinaire Roy Moller is the next artist to pass on his pearls of wisdom in the TSM Radio interview, an interview that if it was a film David Lynch would be the director and the cast would be taken straight from the 1932 film 'Freaks'.

Interview: Joe Hay

Image This time round Edinburgh based Music Composer/Electronica Artist/Producer/Remixer Joe Hay steps up and tackles the totally random questioning of the TSM Radio interview. Joe Hay is so multi talented that whilst answering the questions for the interview he invented a new music genre, solved Britain's debt problem and also baked a tiramisu that rivalled anything Delia could have churn out.

Interview: Cult of Sue Todd

Image With an unusual band name like theirs San Francisco indie trio Cult of Sue Todd were always going to be a worthy candidate to take the bizarre TSM Radio interview. Cult of Sue Todd once released an E.P called Kelsey Grammer Loves Us, way to rub it in guys. I stalked him for months hoping he would love me but all I got for my troubles was a restraining order. Its so bad that I can't even be within 100 feet of any episode of Frasier that may be showing on TV. Anyway enough of my celebrity obsessions read on...

Interview: TKO from Mindrought

Image TSM Radio welcomes it's first metal band to step up and take the coughed up fur ball that is the TSM Radio interview. Detriot's metal super group Mindrought or to be more specific guitarist TKO answers questions that seem to have been compiled by a 5 year old or maybe a first year post grad music journalist, its hard to tell the difference.

Interview: Peter from The Apple Scruffs

Image Glasgow indie rockers The Apple Scruffs have bravely let lead singer Peter Kennaway take on the TSM Radio interview without fear of wrecking their integrity and standing in the Glasgow music scene as a result.

It is well documented that before Terence Trent D'Arby recorded his second album 'Neither Fish Nor Flesh' he agreed to do the TSM Radio interview, officially the reason for the album's flop was due to it being overly indulgent,  unfocused and pretentious. However there are some that think by agreeing to do the TSM Radio interview it may have jinxed the album's success.

Interview: Kemy from The Ads

Image The TSM Radio interview is pleased to introduce its latest contributor Kemy from Glasgow band The Ads. Kemy agreed to do the interview as long as we provided a rider for him. This consisted of a copy of Chorlton & The Wheelies on DVD, a collection of Disney Pez holders and two packets of Toffos, the fruity flavoured ones. We were only to happy to accommodate.

Interview: Kate Starr

Image Contrary to popular belief Kate Starr is not the daughter of British madcap comedian Freddy Starr but in fact is an American multi talented singer/songwriter. Kate jumped to the chance to take the TSM Radio interview when she heard the questions were to be compiled by top American TV chat show host Geraldo Rivera (apparently she has a crush on him). Unfortunately this was a typing error and they were actually compiled by Gerald River, he cleans out our drains once a month, quite acceptable rates actually.

Interview: Sam Tarling from Decora

Image We at TSM Radio feel lucky to have Sam Tarling bass player for Decora available for an interview. Decora are a hard working band, their tour schedule is almost as full as the winner of a pie eating contest and in between gigs they work as roadies for the local OAP cover band 'The Rolling Bones'  who ironically are younger than The Rolling Stones.

Actually Sam was only too please to get away from his roadie duties as he has had flashback nightmares of dealing with The Rolling Bones' groupies.

Interview: Spitzer

Image
Spitzer are two brothers who live in Lyon, France and make music, produce music and remix music. We are pleased that they decided to do the TSM Radio interview especially as they were busy in the middle of remixing The Birdie Song by The Tweets. Tensions were high as Damien wanted to add the mating call of the Superb Fairy- wren into the song but Matthieu thought this was pretentious and wanted to stick with the common Sparrow instead. Sibling rivalry eh? It's like the Gallagher brothers all over again.

Interview: Cactusk

Image

Cactusk are a band that hail from Ann Arbour in Michigan and comprise of two members called Matt. Now this is not as usual as it seems as in 1871 the Senator of Michigan Matthew Matthewson passed a bill that demanded that all the men of the state should change their name to Matt and any new born male should be christened likewise. It is unsure why this happened but it was thought that the Senator was terrible with names and this was the best way to get around the problem. Of course none of this is true and it happens to be a coincidence but that would have just been a boring explanation now wouldn't it?

Interview: Neb from Playtone

Image

This week's interviewee is lead singer/guitarist Neb from the brilliant Glasgow band Playtone. The band were forced to change their original name of 'Plankton' as it was also the name of the local fishmonger's band made up of several shops from the West of Scotland (they played sole music he he). Neb changed the name after an agreement was struck that meant that they were entitled to free fish suppers after every gig in the Port Glasgow area (salt n' sauce not included).

Interview: F451

Image

The guys from punk rock band F451 came in for an interview recently. They are such a ball of energy those boys. Lead singer Jez was so fired up he could not sit still for 2 seconds. Unfortunately this proved to be very annoying and we had to knock him out with a BA Baracus style 'I ain't going on no plane fool' glass of milk. It was OK though he woke up later with a slight headache and a pair of shaved testicles.

Interview: Rob from Hey Bulldog

Image

Rob Manton lead singer of Manchester band Hey Bulldog took the interview questions from the Yahoo! Answers freakshow this week. Rob was at pains to say that he did not want to come out looking bad from the interview and he also didn't want me to make stuff up about him in the intro text like I usually do. This was a bit hurtful as I put in a lot of research before writing about an interviewee. It was OK though as we made up later, Rob is a centaur you see so I gave his back end a good grooming, fed him a sugar cube and patted him on the head and told him he was a good half horse half man.

Interview: Graeme from Marshan

Image

Hey ho, another week, another interview. Graeme Duff is this week's subject and he fronts the Glasgow rock band Marshan . Marshan have taken their music to the four corners of the world; Japan, USA and Germany to name but a few. Unfortunately the guys are unlikely to be playing in Macedonia any time soon, since the fall of communism sales of Barry Manilow's 1983 album 'Manilow Magic' have risen 200% in the country and its hunger for middle of the road easy listening music knows no bounds. It is thought that this summer's fashion must have for the kids of Macedonia is a white suit and black waist coat combo.

Interview: Old Sarge

Image

Blimey O'Riley, you are gonna need a comfy seat and a nice cup of cocoa for this one. Scottish electronica activist Old Sarge has kindly answered the questions this time round and boy didn't he do a thorough job of it. After receiving his completed interview we had to employ the team of editors that worked on War and Peace to edit the thing down. Don't get me wrong I prefer this to one word answers or like David Blaine holding your hand up to the interviewer to show a crappy drawing of an eye every time he asks a question. No what I object to is that Old Sarge can spout more shite than me, this is my house Old Sarge and don't forget it. Wink

Interview: Butler-Williams

Image

If you are an avid reader of the TSM Radio interviews you will know that I put a lot of research into the artists prior to the interview process. So it was a big surprise that my latest interviewees Butler-Williams chose their name in honour of 70s bawdy British comedy. Chris Butler was obviously a fan of On The Buses and took his name from Blakey's nemesis Stan Butler and is apparent that Noel Williams is a massive fan of actor Kenneth Williams who as we all know was a stalwart of the Carry On films. Their new album 'Up the Back Passage and Down the Hole' is available in the summer. Of course non of this is true...oo'err missus.

Interview: The Neutrinos

Image

The Neutrinos' Karen and Simon took some time out to do an interview for TSM Radio this week, they hail from Norwich which is famous for 'Sale of The Century' and Delia Smith. For those that don't know Sale of The Century was a quiz show from the seventies hosted by Nicholas Parsons. Now Nicholas Parsons once appeared on another game show called 'Shooting Stars', this was hosted by comedians Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer. Vic Reeves used to be a Pig Farmer and Karen for The Neutrinos was brought up on a pig farm, coincidence? Or some random facts cobbled together to look interesting? You decide. Oh also Delia Smith is a celebrity cook and has probably roasted a pig or two in her time, spooky no?

Interview: James Hollingsworth

Image
Bristol based singer/songwriter James Hollingsworth took some time out to do this week's TSM Radio interview. On James' website he has a section which has links to other people named James Hollingsworth. I thought this was a good idea so I googled my name only to find out that it is shared with a second hand toilet roll sales man from Scunthorpe, a bearded lady and a bloke from Massachusetts who likes to wear rubber outfits and fill them with helium then roll around on the floor all day like a weeble. Needless to say I will be giving the annual 'Aynz' gathering a miss this year.

Interview: Evil i

Image

Welsh rockers Evil i are the participants in what is the Easter bank holiday TSM Radio interview. Being that it is a bank holiday like me you might be working and this usually means double pay. This became a bit of an issue for the Evil i boys especially Miff who is the self appointed shop steward for the band. Miff demanded that the boys got free pizza and a jumbo bottle of coke for coming in to do the interview, unfortunately our budget only stretched to a few packets of McCoy's crisps and five cartons of Um Bongo. The issue was finally sorted when I offered Miff and the guys a quick look through the January edition of Razzle I had ...ermm lying around in the office, Bass player Chris was a little traumatised by the whole affair.

Interview: Drookit Dogs

Image

Usually in this section I would give you some blurb about the interviewee based on loose facts I either made up or got off the back of a beer mat. But nothing I could ever write would match the band's own description of how they become to be the Drookit Dogs . So in their own words here it is...

"Born simultaneously at the bottom of a well Drookit Dogs very quickly learned how to put up with each other's dank and swampy stench. A lack of education meant they had to communicate in other ways, so as soon as Tom began tapping on the walls Matt began to make strange noises with his pondscum-coated vocal chords. Whitey collected the hair that fell from their drenched prune-like skin and combined it with an old piece of driftwood that had miraculously appeared. As a result he invented a device which made low bowel-rumbling notes when he plucked it.

The well acted like a speaker and very soon people travelled from miles around to hear this alien sound which erupted like a pus-filled boil from the darkness of the well. Eventually the king demanded that this sound be given a face, so a swat team was sent in to recover these three amorphous beings and place them on a bandstand. When they emerged it turned out they were not human but in fact canine (in a sense) and the lack of sunlight had inspired a new breed; they walked on their hind legs and had an inherent ability to play their very own brand of polk music. The king awarded them all with instruments and set them loose..."

Interview: Bella Saona from The Fire and Reason

tfarbella.jpg
There was something unusual the other day when entering the TSM Radio office, something not quite the norm. I looked around and saw that the men had combed their hair and looked like they had been near a wash basin, they smelt different, and there was a waft of Brut 33 in the air not the normal odour of stale beer and cigarettes. They were all wearing their best clothes too; it looks like they had made an effort. Then it hit me, sultry singer Bella Saona from The Fire and Reason was due in for an interview that day. I don't know they are like bees around the honey pot.

Interview: Super Cute Voices

Stuart and Charlie from Super Cute Voices volunteered for the TSM Radio interview this week and I couldn't wait. If you are familiar with Super Cute Voices' songs you will know that they are influenced by Japanese culture and lo-fi music like the stuff you used to hear on Commodore 64 games. Well I was all excited to tell them all about my recent success on Kevin Toms Football Manager (ZX Spectrum 1984 version), I had recently purchased Kevin Keegan and Graham Rix and had just taken Ipswich Town to European Cup glory. Bizarrely the guys didn't seem impressed and just showed me a picture of some Japanese cartoon character called Domo Kun, it looked like a Weetabix with razor sharp teeth, those Japanese are mad.

Interview: Monster Eats The Pilot

The guys from Monster Eats The Pilot took the TSM Radio interview this week. Richard, Robert and Matt are based in California. Richard was born in France and sometimes incorporates french lyrics into his songs. It was evident that Richard had some french in him as when I explained that the band would not be paid for the interview he set up a demonstration and barricaded the office with bales of hay and sheep and started mocking me about my love making techniques and my lack of taste in food.

This of course is not true and I love the french...they make good cheese.

Interview: A Girl and A Gun

Well it has been a while since the last TSM Radio interview but we returned with a treat for you. Taking the interview this time round is Sophie B AKA A Girl and A Gun. Now you may notice in this interview tha Sophie only answers 9 questions and not the usual 10, this is due to a clerical error as we ran out of money before the last question could be drafted. Hopefully this will not spoil your enjoyment of reading the interview however we are starting a '10th question for Sophie' benefit if you are interested in donating to this worthy cause.
